Vendor Date Extended! Updated forms

It has been a busy week for the Oakley Farmers Market steering committee, and we have a bunch of news to share. First off, the Vendor Application deadline has been extended! You may have thought you were too late, but don’t worry, you now have until April 30th to get your vendor application in to us. Don’t delay! Download your vendor application on our forms page.

The Oakley Farmers Market has approved a mission statement:

To provide an opportunity for all Oakley neighbors, regardless of
differences in income, race or social status, to have access to fresh,
healthy, locally produced foods. A central, public space for neighbors
to gather and support their farmers, artisans, and crafters enhances
community self sufficiency and offers a practical resolution to issues
of food insecurity.  Addressing these large issues at the local level
builds strong community ties, revives our local economy, and restores
invaluable connections to our neighborhood, our farmers and farmland,
and each other.

Now who can’t get behind that? Remember to tell your friends and neighbors, our soft opening is May 24th, followed by the Grand Opening on May 31st!

You’ll soon be seeing our flyers around town and the neighborhood. Interested in supporting the market, or showing that your business supports the market? Become a market sponsor! Fill out our sponsorship form to show how much the success of this market means to you. Thank you for your support!

Next committee meeting is Thursday the 19th, 6 PM, at Oakley United Methodist Church, 607 Fairview Rd.

Vendor meeting pics and Market News!

The vendor meeting on March 29th was a great opportunity to meet local vendors with an interest to make the Oakley Farmers Market the best it can be in its inaugural year! The steering committee members each spoke a bit about their roles on the team and answered questions from the vendors. After distributing information packets and our question and answer session, both committee members and vendors gathered outside the church to explore the space of our future market.

If you are an interested vendor that missed the meeting, don’t worry! It’s not to late to apply! Download our vendor application from the forms page, and get it to Kelly Kimball, our market coordinator ASAP! The deadline for member vendors is April 15th! Questions? Don’t hesitate to contact us.

In other market news, Oakley Farmers Market is now part of the Farmers Market Coalition! We’ll be sharing our experiences and learning from others to make the OFM the best neighborhood market in western North Carolina! Also, we are applying for status as a non-profit 501(c)(3), and plan on having a soft opening on May 24th, with the grand opening celebration the following week, May 31st! A lot has been happening, and the steering committee is staying busy. If you would like to provide your input or want to see we’re working on, join us for the next organizational meeting April 12th, 6pm, Oakley United Methodist Church. Thanks for your interest!
